Governor’s
Residence
Indianapolis
Project Information
Constructed in 1926 as a private residence, and now part of the Meridian Street Historic Preservation District, the structure lacked suitable reception & entertaining space, and was challenging for the disabled to enter. This new addition, winner of an open competition by the State of Indiana, reoriented the facility into public and private areas. Designed in a manner that reinterprets design elements from the original residence and surrounding properties, the structure employs the principle of universal accessibility to make all visitors welcome. 2002
